You are bidding on an a strictly limited edition vinyl copy of the ninth and final installment of the Songs For Slim vinyl series, where artists pay tribute to Replacements guitarist Slim Dunlap by covering his songs. For the finale of this nine-month long series, Wilco frontman Jeff Tweedy, his son Spencer Tweedy and a few friends offer up a gorgeous version of “Ballad Of The Opening Band,” Slim’s touching paean to opening acts far and wide. On the flip side of the 7-inch, soulful Tennessee rockers Lucero kick the doors down with a smokin’ take - Memphis style - on Slim’s classic uptempo rocker, “From the Git Go.”
This record will be limited to 250 numbered copies, signed by Jeff Tweedy and Lucero. Like all SFS releases, it features original Chris Mars artwork on the cover. Each release includes a digital download card for both songs and all proceeds go to to The Slim Dunlap Recovery Fund (details below). This auction will run September 15-22. Shipping cost includes $5 handling fee to offset production expenses.
