Description
Jeff Beck – Blow by Blow – 1975 – If it were released today they’d probably call it post-rock, but forty years ago it was called rock fusion or rock jazz or just plain instrumental rock. However you categorise it, Blow by Blow is a great record. The virtuoso guitar player had made four seminal heavy blues rock records, but this his fifth album represents a change of direction. Beck’s focus shifts from heavy blues to jazz based guitar jams. Beck concentrates on tonal colour and almost funky rhythms. George Martin’s pristine production adds another layer of excellence to this superb record. A classic guitar album.
