ORIGINAL 1969 EPIC RECORDS AUTOGRAPHED COPY OF BECK-OLA. This LP has autographs of Jeff Beck and two bonus autographs of Ronnie Wood and Rod Stewart. Released in June 1969 and was the second album from the Jeff Beck Group. Musicians include Jeff Beck g., Nicky Hopkins p., Ronnie Wood b., Rod Stewart v., and Tony Newman/Mickey Waller d. Rolling Stones Ben Gerson said of Beck-Ola, "Beck-Ola includes two oldies, "Jailhouse Rock" and "All Shook Up". Beck throws in a little new-fangled feedback on the latter". The original echo sounding very campy by now is preserved for Stewart's voice The cut contains the strongest vocal performance on the album. Stewart's best singing altogether is on a soulful number called "Drinking Alone" (which for some reason is not on the album). My research found, there was a 7", 45 RPM record on Columbia and EMI Electrola label in1972 of The Jeff Beck Group with "I've Been Drinking", on the A side, with "Morning Dew" and Greensleeves" on side B. The Beck's Group, "Jailhouse Rock" boils with all the virulence the Fifties could muster There is a change of pace with "Girl From Mill Valley" -a lovely gospel tune written by Nicky Hopkins. The addition of a vocal part would have even made it better The last cut, "Rice Pudding" is teeming with ideas. There's a lot of rhythmic interest and driving syncopated riffs which turned regularly as if for recharging when the semi-improvisations start to wear thin. This is the same kind of mood control, metabolic control that the Stones displayed on cuts like "The Last Time". In the middle of the finale, the tape is cut, leaving the listener hanging unmercifully in the group's thrall until the release of the next album Time:30:53/with 7 cuts.
