Volumes: 2, 3, 6, 11 & 12


(Lot of 5 Original 10" LP's 1950-53)


This is a lot of 5 Original 1950's "Jazz At The Philharmonic" 10" LP's. Four of them are USA original pressings, and one is an original French pressing. Four of them feature Charlie Parker. These are genuine 1st pressings. These are not that common. The front sleeves are all designed by David Stone Martin. All of them have been play tested & playback is very reasonable overall. 

I have listed them individually below:


1. Jazz At The Philharmonic Vol 2 (Mercury/ Blue Star No. 6902 10" LP 1950)

An original 10" LP. Manufactured in France. It has a 1st pressing heavyweight "USA" card sleeve which is front laminated. There is a period "Sinfonia" Paris record shop inner sleeve. The record is pressed on thick vinyl & has blue & red "Blue Star" labels. The record has 1st press machine stamped matrices. The performers on this 10" are: Charlie Parker, Lester Young, Charlie Ventura, Willie Smith, Arnold Ross, Mel Powell, Howard McGhee. Al Killian, Billy Hadnot & Lee Young. The tracks are: Blues For Norman and I Can't Get Started With You.

Sleeve: There is a "Sinfonia" record shop sticker on the rear. There is a light curvature of the sleeve. There is a 2 cm and 1 cm area of moderate rubbing wear on the bottom edge. There is some more moderate rubbing wear to the top corner tip at the spine. There are no seam splits. VG condition
Vinyl: There are some light, mild or very mild sleeve rubs which can be seen under a strong light. The inner sleeve, over time, has left some light, mild or more moderate marks on the vinyl on some areas.  There are a couple of light hairline marks. VG- condition. There is a period "Sinfonia" sticker on one label. Otherwise, the labels are in VG+ condition & show mild spindle wear. The Sinfonia inner sleeve is in VG+ condition. There is some ringwear and creasing. There are no seam splits.

I have fully play tested this 10" LP & it plays VG overall. There is some light, mild or very mild crackle in some quieter places.


2. Jazz At The Philharmonic Vol 3 (Clef MG VOL. 3 USA 10" LP 1950)

USA original 10" LP. It has a heavyweight card sleeve which is front "Clef Records" stickered. There is no inner sleeve - I believe this is how they were originally released. The record is pressed on thick vinyl & has black & silver "Clef" labels. The labels are deep grooved too. The record has 1st press machine stamped matrices. The performers on this 10" are: Charlie Parker, Lester Young, Charlie Ventura, Willie Smith, John Birks, Shoeless Joe Jackson, Billy Hadnot & Lee Young. The tracks are: Crazy Rhythm and Sweet Georgia Brown.

Sleeve: There is some light, mild or very mild rubbing wear to the spine on some areas. There is some light fading to the spine too. There are some light, mild or very mild rub stains/ marks on the rear sleeve. There is some mild or very mild rubbing wear to the corner tips. There are no seam splits. VG condition
Vinyl: There are some light, mild or very mild sleeve rubs which can be seen under a strong light.  There is a light surface mark. The card sleeve, over time, has left some light, mild or more moderate marks on the vinyl on some areas. VG- condition. The labels are in Excellent+ condition & show minimal spindle wear.

I have fully play tested this 10" LP & it plays VG+ overall & Near Excellent in some places. There is some light or very mild crackle in some quieter places.


3. Jazz At The Philharmonic Vol 6 (Clef Records MG VOL. 6 USA 10" LP 1950)

USA original 10" LP. It has a heavyweight card sleeve which is front laminated sleeve which has a "Clef Records" sticker on the front too. There is no inner sleeve - I believe this is how they were originally released. The record is pressed on thick vinyl & has black & silver "Clef" labels. The labels are deep grooved too. The record has 1st press machine stamped matrices. The performers on this 10" are: Charlie Parker, Lester Young, Coleman Hawkins, Willie Smith, Buck Clayton, Kenny Kersey, Irving Ashby, Billy Hadnot & Buddy Rich. The tracks are: JATP Blues and Slow Drag.

Sleeve: There is some light, mild or very mild rubbing wear to the spine on some areas. There is some light fading to the spine too. There are some light, mild or more moderate rub stains/ marks on the rear sleeve. There is some mild or very mild rubbing wear to the corner tips. There are no seam splits. VG- condition
Vinyl: There are some light, mild or very mild sleeve rubs which can be seen under a strong light.  There is one very light but quite long hairline mark. a light surface mark. The card sleeve, over time, has left some light, mild or more moderate marks on the vinyl on some areas. VG- condition. The labels are in Excellent+ condition & show minimal spindle wear.

I have fully play tested this 10" LP & it plays VG overall & VG+ in some places. There is some light, mild or very mild crackle in some quieter places. There are some light or mild clicks near the start of Side 2. These do not last too long.


4. Jazz At The Philharmonic Vol 11 (Mercury MG VOL. 11 USA 10" LP 1951)

USA original 10" LP. It has a heavyweight card sleeve which is front laminated. There is no inner sleeve - I believe this is how they were originally released. The record is pressed on thick vinyl & has black & silver "Mercury" labels. The labels are deep grooved too. The record has 1st press machine stamped matrices. The performers on this 10" are: Lester Young, Charlie Ventura, Dizzy Gillespie, Willie Smith, Mel Powell, Billy Hadnot & Lee Young. The tracks are: The Man I Love Part 1 and Part 2.

Sleeve: There is a 2.5 cm area of moderate rubbing wear to the top of the spine. There is a 1 cm area of mild to more moderate rubbing wear to the bottom of the spine. There is some moderate fading on the rear. There is some moderate foxing on the rear - at the spine area. VG- condition
Vinyl: There are some light, mild or more moderate sleeve rubs which can be seen under a strong light.  There are a couple of light hairline marks. The card sleeve, over time, has left some light, mild or very mild marks on the vinyl on some areas. VG- condition. The labels are in Excellent condition & show light spindle wear.

I have fully play tested this 10" LP & it plays VG+ overall. There is some light, mild or very mild crackle in some quieter places.


5. Jazz At The Philharmonic Vol 12 (Mercury MG VOL. 12 USA 10" LP 1953)

USA original 10" LP. It has a heavyweight card sleeve. There is no inner sleeve - I believe this is how they were originally released. The record is pressed on thick vinyl & has black & silver "Mercury" labels. The labels are deep grooved too. The record has 1st press A/ B matrices. The performers on this 10" are: Charlie Parker, Lester Young, Roy Eldridge, Flip Phillips, Hank Jones, Tommy Turk, Ray Brown & Buddy Rich. The tracks are: The Opener and Lester Leaps In.

Sleeve: There is some light, mild or very mild rubbing wear to the bottom edge & spine. There is a 1.5 cm area of moderate rubbing wear at the very top & bottom of the spine.  There is some fading to the rear sleeve. There is a very small initial on the rear sleeve too. VG condition
Vinyl: There are some light, mild or very mild sleeve rubs which can be seen under a strong light.  There are 4 light hairline marks. These measures from 1 cm to 3 cm in length. The card sleeve, over time, has left some light, mild or very mild marks on the vinyl on some areas. VG- condition. The labels are in Excellent condition & show light spindle wear.

I have fully play tested this 10" LP & it plays VG+ overall. There is some light or very mild crackle in some quieter places.
There are a few light or mild clicks midway through Side 1.
