Description

JAM SESSION #1, Mercury MGC-601,blue label, deep groove pressing. Cover art by David Stone Martin.

On this 1952 recording, the musicians are Charlie Shavers (trumpet), Charlie Parker, Johnny Hodges, Benny Carter (alto sax), Ben Webster, Flip Phillips (tenor sax), Oscar Peterson (piano), Barney Kessel (guitar), Ray Brown (bass), J. C. Heard (drums).
The tunes are Jam Blues, Ballad Medley (All the Things You Are, Dearly Beloved, Nearness of You, I'll Get By, Everything Happens to Me, The Man I Love, What's New, Someone to Watch Over Me, Isn't It Romantic).

Condition of record is E-, some very light scuffing, no scratches, a few spindle marks, plays very well with minimal surface noise. Jacket shows some overall wear, 1/2 inch seam split lower right, some fraying on spine

V = Very Good. Noticeable wear, visual and audible. Records with slight surface noise and/or scuffs fall into this category.
G = Good. Not really all that good. Records in this category have more significant damage or wear.
F = More severe damage, distracting surface noise. Only used in incidence of extreme rarity.
P = Poor condition, proves existence of record only.
