POWER GAMES - PURPLE COLORED VINYL LP
- RECORD CONDITION: NEAR MINT (NM) Very Clean. Most likely played once.
- ALBUM COVER CONDITION: VERY GOOD PLUS (VG+) -- KEPT IN SHRINKWRAP. -- Some wearing at corners. Some creasing at corners and on spine.
- INNER SLEEVE CONDITION: VERY GOOD PLUS (VG+) -- In a clear plastic inner sleeve.
- DETAILS: You are bidding on THE MEGA, MEGA RARE PURPLE, TIE DYE Colored Vinyl from Jaguar. There are known to have been very few of these Vinyls pressed on Purple vinyl. There are black tie-dye streaks in the vinyl, which were made intentionally. See close-up photos of the vinyl for details. This is one of the most Rare LPs you will ever see. Not listed anywhere on eBay in purple vinyl. Has sold for over $500 internationally online. Google this album if you don't believe. Only a few copies sold over the last five years on eBay or anywhere online. This could be the last time that you see this album available ever again in this condition. A true collector's piece. - About the Band:
Jaguar was one of those killer NWOBHM bands that were underrated back then, in those glorious early 80’s, and still remain like that. Battleaxe, Persian Risk, Sledgehammer, Aragorn, ...most of them didn’t even released more than 1 lp and didn’t reach the success of the big 3 of the New Wave of Heavy Metal, sometimes an unfair end for most of those groups. That’s the case of Jaguar, and “Power Games” is the undisputed proof.

The album begins with “Dutch Connection”, a song that simply demonstrates where the early thrash sound comes from: the U.K. Fast metal, raw and fierce; no time for commerical attempting sound. In fact almost each tune feature a speed drum rhythm (“No Lies”, “The Fox”, “Prisoner”...not as brutal as Exciter, Raven or some Motörhead or Accept’s double bass drum beats but anyway, still thrashy). I also have to highlight the great riffs from “Run For Your Life”, “Out Of Luck” or “Ain’t No Fantasy”; songs that also include some of the most catchy lyrics I ever heard (I guess it wasn’t deliberated). Although the songs are simple and straight (most of them are no longer than 3 minutes lenght) the final result is simply brilliant and effective.
About the band, just say that if a list of “the most criminally underrated guitarist ever” should be written, Garry Peppard would be in the top. Along with Steve Dawson from Savage, I never listened such a guitar virtuoso like that, left behind while those typical overrated jet set musicians achieve the fame and the money. If you don’t believe me check those incendiary riffs and solos in this album, so sharpy and lethal! And their singer, Paul Merrell, reminds me of Joe Lynn Turner’s voice so such a perferct combination to build a solid metal sound. His performance in the only ballad of the lp, “Master Game”, make it clear; and that song also demonstrates that there were already powerful heavy ballads before Metallica’s “Fade To Black” (And by the way, I always thought that “Hit The Lights” was a bit of a tribute to “Coldheart”).
So as conclusion, the NWOBHM wasn’t only Maiden-Saxon-Leppard, no no. It’s also sad that any thrash documentary talks about how important were bands like this, but anyway; the NWOBHM maniacs like me can always enjoy this great album (even when the production and shameful mix affect the result notably), while the rest of the world go crazy with Def Leppard’s “Love Bites”. - CATALOG #: NEAT 1007
