Strong playing E condition (see grading details below) Chess 78rpm, Featuring Jackie Brenston & his Delta Cats (Actually Ike Turner & his Kings of Rhythm) Brenston, actually Turner's Saxophonist does the vocal on both sides, with Turner doing the lead in piano on Rocket 88. The Legendary Sam Phillips produced this record in his Memphis Studio in March of 1951. Rocket 88 hit #1 on the R&B charts in June of that year. Music Historians consider "Rocket 88" of great importance in the development of Rock & Roll, and the song was inducted in the Rock in Roll Hall of fame in 2018. The Rocket 88 side also contains one the very first examples of distortion or "Fuzz Guitar" by Willie Kizart.  I discovered this Record locally at the home of a elderly gentlemen about 15 years ago, who collected mostly Classicals but also loved Oldsmobiles and had a Rocket 88.  Please review my grading details below. I inspect each record visually and by test playing. I also just posted a video of this record playing on my Victrolaman Youtube Channel so you can hear the Sound quality.  Payment is by paypal, and shipping will be by USPS priority Mailing.  All of my packaging of these fragile 78's is done safely by sandwiching the records between sturdy Cardboard and surrounding it with bubble wrap before placing it in a Cardboard box surrounded by packing peanuts, and the Box is Stamped FRAGILE.  I have set a very reasonable opening minimum and No Reserve for this hard to find R&B Rock Classic  and will let it go from there. My grading system is simple 

M - I was transported back in time to a record store and purchased new stock and returned to 2017.  

M-  It looks like new old stock but I can't prove it. 

E+ It looks and plays really fantastic, visual grading under light may have detected very minimal light surface scuffs and maybe some tiny surface scratches

E  It has been obviously been handled and played a number of times, it may have typical scuffs and some surface scratches as you would find on most records of this vintage, but still plays really great 

E- , quite a few signs of scuffing and other surface blemishes and scratches but still enjoyable.

G+  A serious collector would turn his nose up at it, but a beginner would jump in, sound quality far from great, starting to fade much more gray and little gloss left, and almost ready for the Old record retirement home.
