Description

This is a genuine Island Records promotional Cassette from 1990, for the tracks that were chosen from, for the album "Peggy Suicide" that was released in the summer of the following year. These versions in some cases are the same as the released versions, but at least three are very different, and one is unreleased (and unbootlegged) to this day.

  1. If You Loved Me at all
  2. Not waving but drowning
  3. Western front 1992
  4. American Lite
  5. Jung'Kie
  6. Hanging out and living on the line
  7. Little Donkey
  8. Head
  9. Drive, She said
  10. East Easy Rider
  11. Las Vegas Basement
  12. Double Vegetation

Jung'Kie is particularly important, as not only is it unreleased, but is in fact the 'title' track of the Peggy Suicide story, and is one of his best tracks ever, which makes its non-appearance quite surprising.

Western Front 1992 is different as this has Julian singing, rather than Lulu Chivers, Edwina Vernon & Camilla Mayer as on the album version.

Little Donkey also never made it to the finished album, but did appear on the album "Skellington", released that year, in a stripped down version. This version begins in the same way (I believe the basic track is the same), but this longer version builds to a full band conclusion. Again, worthy of inclusion.

So, this may well have been a potential running order for an unreleased album. Some tracks dropped, others rearranged, and a good many added to make it his best album. But as this version stands, it would have been great anyway, but was made better after "Beautiful Love" and the other extra tracks were added.
