J.R. MONTEROSE "J.R. MONTEROSE" Blue Note 1536, DG, P, RVG Mono 10" Vinyl

This is the first pressing, Deep Groove,  Flat Rim, RVG-stamped, "P"-pressing  of J.R. MONTEROSE's "J.R. MONTEROSE"on the "767 Lexington Ave" labels of Blue Note BLP 1536. Musicians include Ira Sullivan, Horace Silver, Wilbur Ware, Philly Joe Jones.

VINYL plays with consistent medium to high level surface noise, with ticks and pops. But instruments are clear, clean, dynamic, powerful. Many nasty looking hairline marks; at least 6 feelable, which sound. No distortion. No locked grooves. No groovewear. No warps. The Deep Grooved "767 Lexington Ave" labels are clean but show aging with spindle wear. See photos.

The COVER is in average shape for a 60-year-old LP jacket, but quite worn. Top seam half -split, spine worn, lower seam taped, worn/cracking. Corners worn. "BLUE NOTE RECORDS, 767 Lexington Ave., New York 21" back jacket shows wear and aging. Some writing in pen. See photos.

   

This LP was play-tested on a high-end system consisting of Music Hall MMF-7.3 turntable/Ortofon Bronze cartridge, Heed Audio Elixir integrated amplifier, Heed Quasar Phono stage and Quad S2 speakers (with very revealing ribbon tweeters). Record cleaned on VPI 16.5.
