This is an original 1979 FIRST PRESSING of JOY DIVISSIONS Masterpiece UNKNOWN PLEASURES and it is a CORKER. One of the best copies I have ever seen and certain to be a Final Upgrader for many of you Joy Division fans. During the 50s 60s and 70s England was envied the world over for producing the finest made records and album sleeves. They simply produced the finest product. Followed closely by Japan and the USA then of course as we do we just let all that slip away.... And another fine industry was gone forever. Unknown Pleasures was to my knowledge one of the last great albums the UK record industry ever made !
The sleeve: This non laminated heavily textured sleeve is the best conditioned Unknown Pleasures sleeve I have ever come across . Most that you will see have very heavy ring wear and most are covered in white flaws where the black has come away. This has none of that only the slightest edge ware and a few light cracks that you have to search to find. Look around on eBay or anywhere to find a better sleeve than this and you will have BOTH your hands seriously full. Double click the pictures and look at the spine. ALL the writing is there and fully ledgeable. Look to the ends of the spine and you will see the white flaws I spoke of earlier that normally pervade these sleeves. THIS IS BEAUTIFUL . The sleeve is graded EXCELLENT PLUS.
The inner sleeve, as you can see it has the ROUNDED CORNERS all later pressings have the square corners.No writing anywhere on the item and the white areas of the inner sleeve I can only describe as BRILLIANT. No age dulling anywhere incredible to think in 5 years this will be 50 years old. The inner is a STUNNER and graded as EXCELLENT PLUS.
The vinyl. This shines like black Onynx when tilted towards the light and YES when you hold the vinyl up towards a spot light it turns TRANSLUCENT RED. (I am unable to capture this with my photography) (INABILITY) the vinyl to both sides in a normally lit room are impeccable, only under a bright spot light you can see the very very faintest lightest hair lines that appear on ever single album that was ever removed from its inner sleeve. In fact I bought an album 2 weeks ago opened the cellophane out it came and those light hairlines were there. I have never seen a record hairline free and I`ve been collecting since 78. The playback of this is ASTOUNDING. No jumps no skips no sticking silent in the dead wax areas apart from the static that comes up through the arm but no problems at all. Crystal clear clarity all the way. The labels are BEAUTIFUL and in clean EXCELLENT order. The vinyl is graded as EXCELLENT PLUS.
Above are all the identifiers that confirm this to be 100% true and authentic first pressing of UNKNOWN PLEASURES by JOY DIVISION, who`s popularity just grows and grows along side the popularity of the great city of MANCHESTER. In this condition with NO RESERVE !!! If you miss this opportunity, that`s a heavy headache and a heavier heartache that it will take you some time to recover from.
