The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality.

The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

NEAR MINT:

I use this grade for items that are known (or suspected) to have been previously owned but appear unplayed.

The labels should have NO spindle marks or signs of play. The cover may show slight signs of storage wear.

EXCELLENT:

The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality.

The cover and packaging might have slight wear and / or creasing.

VERY GOOD: 

The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch.

Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD:

The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches.

The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.

Records graded G or VG, I play on a near-mint 1969 Hacker lift top - with either a stereo or mono stylus.

All records graded above VG, I play on my old Linn with my amp set to standard, through just my Sennheiser headphones, with a laptop and a cup of tea.

The only records I don't play are MINT and most NEAR MINT. As I only sell my own records,  it seems crazy to play a previously unplayed LP prior to sale. I do offer a full, money-back guarantee if you're in any way unhappy with your purchase.
