Description
Original, classic 1950s self-titled Rockabilly LP by Johnny Burnette and The Rock 'n Roll Trio!! This is on the maroon and silver Coral label CRL-57080 and is, obviously, pressed in fabulous MONO. This is a 100% genuine original pressing from 1956. Labels are deep-grooved and the matrix numbers are machine-stamped in the trailoff on both sides. Cover has full printing along the spine and "Printed in U.S.A." in the lower right corner of both sides. Both the record and cover are in good overall condition. The record has all of its original gloss and shine, but shows normal scuffs and scratches from past use. I played this entire LP with my regular, "industry standard" Stanton stylus and it played through fine and without skipping. There are just some predictable light clicks and pops throughout; nothing prolonged or serious. On Side 1, "Rock Billy Boogie" does have a little more audible surface noise in a couple spots (not through the entire song). This must have been the original owner's favorite song (understandably so), so there are a couple spots where it does have a little more audible hiss for a few seconds. Overall the LP is quite pleasant to listen to. Both labels look very nice, except for a couple small spindle gouges on the Side 2 label (see photo). This comes with the original onionskin inner sleeve, but the record is now housed in a newer antistatic sleeve. The cover is quite clean overall, but both the top seam and the spine are completely split. Other than that, the front and back are quite clean and display quite nicely!! The printing on the spine is still quite legible in spite of the splitting. The original store price sticker is still intact in the lower right corner of the back. This is certainly NOT an audiophile copy of this LP. But, it should certainly make an enjoyable filler until (and if...) that near mint one turns up! Along with Elvis Presley's first LP, this is probably one of the very best Rockabilly albums in the entire history of rock music!! This has been in my personal collection for quite a few years and it is now time for it to find a new home.
