Notes: This is a one-sided acetate of a song titled "I'm Not A Rock." There's no artist indicated, only the publisher- Cromwell Music. If you google this information, you find this page, which is a listing of songs by John Simon. This one was apparently co-written with Fran Landesman. I don't know who the performer is here, but the song is a nice psych/funk tune with trippy tremolo guitars and a fuzz solo. Definitely something unique to add to your collection!

OK, here's some additional info on this. First off, this acetate comes from the estate of Rudy Romero of the 60s garage band The Hard Times. The Hard Times recorded this song, which you can hear on the CD reissue of their LP "Blew Mind." The recording on this acetate is NOT the Hard Times version- this is a publisher's demo. John Simon sends this info: "This is a publisher's demo of a song I co-wrote with Fran Landesman (lyricist of "Poems to Eat"). I don't recall who sang the demo. Probably not me. Could be Bob Dorough who demoed quite a few of our collaborations, but then again ...? It was Fran's reaction to Paul Simon's song, "I Am A Rock". The last line of the song is 'I'm not an island either.""
