Scofield, who has already recorded first-class records for Verve and Blue Note, puts his guitar into an exciting discourse, every second of this double album! He thus expands the world of jazz and pushes to the roots, which connects all these styles of music. He is by no means concerned with the reproduction of old pieces, but rather with the contemporary handling of it. Scofield, der schon für Verve und Blue Note erstklassige Platten eingespielt hat, setzt seine Gitarre in einen spannenden Diskurs, zu jeder Sekunde dieses Doppelalbums! Er erweitert damit die Welt des Jazz und dringt zu den Wurzeln vor, die all diese Musikstile verbindet. Ihm geht es dabei keineswegs um das Nachspielen alter Stücke, sondern eher um den zeitgemäßen Umgang damit. Zwar ist die Instrumentierung weitgehendst akustisch, die Aufnahme klingt aber sehr frisch und groovig, selbst die Blues-Kompositionen wirken alles andere als angestaubt. Eine klasse Album! Inkl.
