JOHN NATCHEZ "LISTEN" LP

Natchez Entertainment (no catalog number)

Here's a NEVER seen MONSTER private press psych LP from 1977 Louisiana. Musically, this is very hard to describe and unique: six singers (singing sometimes alone, sometimes in unison), rippling and drifting guitar with some fuzz, and an extremely tight rhythm section battle it out over the course of structurally complex tracks. The rhythm section (featuring Natchez on drums) is the immediate standout; this album features the most unique, intense, and complicated drumming I've ever heard! If all this sounds too prog to you, it's not; a mood of genuine outsider weirdness hangs over the proceedings rather than one of pretension. Strange lyrics too, which hint at some kind of underlying Native American or Christian theme. Tracklisting: Labor of the Aztecs, Backtracking, Rush Madly, Ocean Winds Have Gathered, The Ouachita, Know a Sunset, Small Meanings, Living Silent Serenity.

Suffice to say, this record is NEVER seen for sale, so bid accordingly!!! The only information I could find was that Natchez was featured on an old Tony Coulter WFMU playlist, and if you're familiar with Coulter you know he plays only the most bizarre and rarest private records! Vinyl is a stunning near-mint with very, very minor surface wear (plays crystal clear), sleeve is near-mint as well, with some very light ringwear.

I will be selling some more private press & rare records from my collection all week. So be sure to check out my other auctions. Thanks
