Description

John Mayall's Bluesbreakers, Bare Wires

Original UK Decca Records mono LP, LK 4945. Early 1A/1A non-boxed heavy duty press in gatefold sleeve. Not grooved, but almost certainly a 1968 pressing and on a scarcity level probably grooved and non-grooved issues are on a par. The original inner sleeve has a date of 10/68 (October 1968).

Visually EX. Some spindle wear but this light. Surfaces glossy and clean with just a few minor scuff marks, no scratches.

Playback is very clean throughout and at least EX plus. There is an occasional isolated soft tick and instance of barely audible unobtrusive crackle. However these instances are extremely short lived and account for no more than a very few seconds of entire playing time. There is just one instance of a slightly more audible tick followed by a quieter one on side two. By and large the surfaces are very quiet and this is essential for this LP which has a quieter and more introspective backdrop than a full out Blues Rock affair. The LP still provides a superb listening experience and background noise is never an issue.

Labels are clean and undefaced.

Original poly-lined paper sleeve is in good order with the usual disc impression creasing and some other minor creasing but no other issues of note.

The external sleeve is very well preserved and close to EX. The gatefold sleeve is laminated to rear but has a single matt fold out panel to front. These are prone to heavy damage but this one has survived really well. The edges, spine and entry side are all very well preserved. In generally would grade top end EX but this only held back by some air pocketing to laminate next to spine at rear panel and a very tiny piece of laminate loss at top right corner of rear panel. Else bright, clean and unmarked.
