Description

JOHN COLTRANE - Ole Coltrane

An eminently presentable copy of this 1961 US 1st press jazz rarity with great sounding MONO playback

Year/Label : 1961 US ATLANTIC
Label number : MONO 1373

Matrix numbers : A11833 - A  AT  /  A11834 - A  AT  also a "W" on each side and a "block" shaped "S" on side 2
1961 John Coltrane gem on cherished red & purple US Atlantic record label label :  very good plus (VG+) condition vinyl, nice and thick and completely flat, with earliest A/A matrices and difficult to detect any blemishes in normal daylight, though with closer inspection under a bright light some hairlines and very light scuff marks can be identified, along with just some sporadic and non-obvious vinyl 'dulling' (though again in normal daylight the vinyl gives off a wonderful jet black sheen). These very minor blemishes are non-feelable, surface only, and do not seem to impinge upon the excellent MONO sound quality at all.  Excellent plus (EX+) condition labels with just a couple of small & extremely faint spindle trails next to the centre hole on each.  Excellent (EX) condition front side laminated thick cardboard outer sleeve with firm unscuffed edges, near perfectly defined right angled corners with barely any rubbing, no laminate lifting, and just some mild age discolouration on the original "paste-on' towards the edges on the reverse side (see photos).  Excellent (EX) MONO audio quality with no clicks, interference, distortion or background interference, and any background crackle is extremely light, very occasional, and non-intrusive...negligible in fact - simply great tone with crystal clear MONO audio quality throughout, with John Coltrane and a host of other jazz greats (Freddie Hubbard and Elvin Jones to name just two) on top form. A great listen!  Comes complete with original Atlantic advertising inner sleeve with no splits, tears, discolouration, and just a single mild corner crease.  A true early 60's jazz gem, with these US 1st press recordings now highly sought after & becoming very hard to find.
 A welcome addition to any serious jazz vinyl collection! POSTAGE COSTS :

For the UK £5 using Royal Mail 1st class signed for ;

for continental Europe £14 using Royal Mail 1st class tracked and signed for,

and for the rest of the world £21 using Royal Mail 1st class tracked and signed for.

I do provide posting and packaging discounts for multiple purchases. I make no profit from postage.

Note that I always insert the vinyl into a new plain white poly-lined inner sleeve in order to protect the original during postage, and separate this from the outer sleeve to prevent seam splits. I use thick cardboard stiffeners and take great care in my packaging to ensure as far as possible that these precious records reach their destination in exactly the same condition as when they leave me.
