Description

JOHN CAGE / DAVID TUDOR : Indeterminacy: New Aspect of Form in Instrumental and Electronic Music 2LP (Folkways [USA] FT 3704) 196?.

Records are generally excellent with minimal light sleeve scuffs only, but there are some rough-looking scuffs on side two, from the staples on the insert (pretty common with this set). Mercifully the scuffs don't cause any audible problems -- it plays quite nicely, considering how quiet the recording is, with occasional light noise audible and light clicks and pops here, and there but nothing bad at all. These are usually pretty noisy and this one is about as clean-sounding as we've heard, overall. Box is excellent with light wear to the slick. No corner splits. With insert (also EX).

Nice early pressing of this historic mind-expanding collaboration between New Music giants John Cage and David Tudor; Cage reads 90 one-minute stories while Tudor (in another room) performs portions of Cage's Concert for Piano and Orchestra along with pre-recorded selections of Cage's Fontana Mix.

Dating Folkways pressings is a rather inexact science but from what we can tell, we would estimate that this was probably pressed in the early to mid-'60s: "117 West 46th St NYC" address (no zip code) on insert. "701 Seventh Ave" address (no zip code) and "Custom molded by Plastylite" on labels (deep groove). No address on cover slick.
