Description

[DUE to a severe spell of stormy weather,  I am offering "re-runs" again this week.  I always take my record pictures outdoors in the bright sunshine, because my primitive daguerrotype camera just won't sharply focus under artificial light. Several weeks worth of new listings are in the bullpen, ready for their closeups, which I duly will shoot if there is a PEEP of sunlight in these coming winter days.]

[THIS WEEK I am offering selected twelve-inch records. In my haste at selling the ten-inch ones, I utterly overlooked the fascinating world of these twelve-inchers. There is some exceedingly cool stuff here! Hope you like the change.]

ACTOR JOHN BARRYMORE (1882 - 1942), of course, is a stage and screen legend, "The Great Profile," scion of an acting dynasty, and famous drunkard.  His acting career was so spectacular and packed with incident that I refer you to the great Wikipedia article on Barrymore for replete information.

This Victor record, however, never gets mentioned in the Wiki article, and it's a shame!  It's Barrymore's ONLY record, and if it were all that survived of him, we would still know him as a great actor.

In "HAMLET'S SOLILOQUY" and "GLOUSTER'S SOLILOQUY" Barrymore weaves a Shakespearian spell that will rivet you.

This original 1928 "Red Seal" "Scroll" Victor 6827 is in EE- condition, and will remain a Thing of Beauty and a Joy Forever.

*****

These records come from my private collection, which I have been accumulating since 1967, and now am downsizing!  My highest priority in these eBay auctions is to give you the best possible idea of a record’s true condition and aesthetic value.  I always post at least four clear images, showing the record fore and aft, a close-up of the label, and the whole disc, warts and all.  If my purple prose won’t cut it, the pictures will!  Shipping is done with expert care. Your record will brave Media Mail in a stout corregated box, between four sheets of cardboard and a couple of “packers.”  I hope you are amused by these descriptions, and by the quality of service being offered.
