JOE ROLAND QUARTET AND SYMFORNET – SAVOY MG 15034 – 10 INCH - EX/VG+ – MONO
There are two Savoy sessions on this 10 inch LP. The first, recorded on January 17, 1950 features Joe Roland on vibes, Joe Puma on guitar, Gus Oberstein, Jules Modlin and Sidney Kasmet on strings, Ismael Ugarte on bass, Harold Granowsky on drums and Paula Castle on vocals. SIDE A: SALLY IS GONE; DEE DEE’S DANCE; HALF NELSON and LOVE IS JUST A PLAYTHING. The second session is on Side B and was recorded on May 10, 1954. It features Joe Roland on vibes, Freddie Redd on piano, Oscar Pettiford on bass and Ron Jefferson on drums. SIDE B: GARRITY’S FLIGHT; INDIAN SUMMER; I’VE GOT THE WORLD ON A SREING and STEPANNIE’S DANCE. This is a MONO recording.
I’ve graded the LP as EX and the record jacket as VG+ for the following reasons. The vinyl on the LP is clean of any marks, except on Side B, Cut 3, which doesn’t interfere with play. Otherwise, it’s very clean with little to no surface noise. The record jacket is in excellent condition, except for a small taped seam on the top right corner of the seam. There is some slight discoloration on the liner notes, but for its age, this LP is in excellent condition. If you have any questions, please email me and I will get back to you as soon as possible.
