Here we have a beautiful LP by the great R&B singer, Jimmy McCracklin on Chess 1464 issued in 1961. I acquired this record about 15 years ago when I purchased a large collection from former Detroit DJ, Jim "Dandy" Reese. This LP bears the White Promo Label issued to radio stations. As most of you already know, these promos were often pressed in small quantities using the highest quality vinyl under strict quality standards and are often quite superior in sound quality to the regular editions.
McCracklin sings in a big bellowy voice, firmly in the blues idiom, and follows the Big Joe Turner school of blues singing. This was McCracklin's first LP and the only one on the Chess label.
The condition of the LP is extremely nice! Shows only a minor paper scuff or two and appears to have seen very little time on the turn table and clearly deserves a near mint rating. The record plays as well as it looks, with no notable ticks, pops, or any other extraneous noises to interfere with the sound.
The cover, while overall quite nice, does have some water staining along the bottom and shows some light soiling. I'll give it a VG rating, but please look at the photos to determine how objectionable this may be to you. The seams are tight with no splitting.
