Description
Hi, and welcome to psych_out! auctions!!!
I specialize in 50's, 60's, and early 70's records of almost every genre - Psych, Prog, Psychedelic Funk, Soul, Rhythm 'n' Blues, Pop, Folk, Garage, Acid, Freakbeat, Rock, Jazz e.t.c and everything in between!!! I try my best to consistently offer some of the VERY BEST records available on ebay!!! Obviously, 90%+ of the LP's I ever get hold of are completely trashed from the hard living ways and the rock 'n' roll, drug and booze fuelled debauchery of all the wild parties of the times, but the golden 10%? I offer them to all of you serious record collectors out there!!!
I'm going to start by listing 20 LP's a week, all timed to end 10 days later. Hopefully after a while, i'll be able to step things up a gear or two in good time. I'll only ever offer THE BEST, MOST AMAZING, MOST IMPORTANT, VERY RAREST UK 1ST PRESS ORIGINAL RELEASE RECORDS I can ever possibly find!!! I won't insult you with later 2nd pressings unless they are of exceptional quality and rarity. I'm sure you love good music as much as me, especially when it's a 1st Press LP, direct from the master tape, as the musicians intended it to be heard (none of this "digitally remastered", weak reissued, remixed rubbish from hired hands with one eye on the mixing desk and the other on the clock! If these session men really knew how genius should sound, surely they would've been geniuses themselves?! There will only ever be one Hendrix, and that's just a tiny example).
I intend to become one of the best sellers on ebay and would like to thank all of you potential bidders for your support and taste in music!!! I strictly grade all LP's I list, visually and sonically using the UK RRPG standards as customer satisfaction is highly important to me, and i'll always do my very best not to let you down. Be sure to add me to your favourite sellers list and check my auctions frequently as i'll be listing some gems that you just WON'T want to miss out on!!!
I think that's everything, so let the auction commence!!!
Title : The Jimi Hendrix Experience - Electric LadylandLabel & year : Original Black Track 2657 001 Double LP , UK Stereo 1968 ULTRA RARE day-of-release 1st Press with IMPOSSIBLE blue text sleeve!!!
Matrix's : Side A : 613008 A//1 1 , Side B (D) : 613008 Bv2 420 1 , Side C (B) : 613009 Av2 420 1 , Side D (C) : 613009 B//2 420 1
DON'T underestimate the sheer phenomenal rarity of this 1st press with day of release black Track labels with inverted matrixes above the catalogue number, and the IMPOSSIBLY RARE blue text sleeve which only an absolute MINISCULE amount of 1st Presses of this EVER had - apparently all the sleeves were initially planned to be the blue text version, but as it was just going to press, Noel had a bust up with the management about the size of his picture being too small on this blue text version (he possibly thought it undermined his contribution) and many other tensions that had been building into a head (like the sheer amount of hangers on in the studio e.t.c), ending in Noel quitting, and Jimi (or maybe the management) got revenge for being left in the lurch with upcoming tours being thrown into chaos e.t.c, by immediately halting the press as quickly as it began and reducing the size of Noel's picture even further!!! Petty, I know, but as a result, only an absolute TINY amount EVER had blue text, much like only a TINY amount of the first run of Are You Experienced ever had a fully laminated sleeve!!!
If you were to walk into a record shop on the day this was released, chances are you'd be VERY lucky to even find ONE blue text version amongst the white sleeves on the rack!!!
Just like any of the Hendrix experience albums, this is one of THE BEST of all time containing some of THE GREATEST music EVER recorded!!! Widely know as his masterpiece, the first two Experience LP's were recorded in a matter of days, this however took around a year!!! (a heck of a long time in those days) It was worth it though. It could so easily have fallen apart like many painstaking works of genius (such as Brian Wilson's unreleased (though heavily bootlegged) legendary Beach Boys classic SMiLE), but he stuck with it and created a work of pure brilliance which has and will continue to transcend ALL time! If you've never heard Hendrix's original master mix and only the CD reissue, then you're going to be blown away!!! This has got incredible psychedelic effects, MEAN bass and razor sharp lifelike clarity!!! And when Hendrix is jamming on songs like Voodoo Chile and Rainy Day, it sounds incredibly intimate as it floats over the backing band, JUST like his amp is in the room!!!
It's easy to forget just how amazing this LP is what with "Experience Hendrix" doing their best to milk him dry with endless thrown together "Best Of''s" over the years. But it was here on this Track original blasting out of my speakers now where the world first heard "Crosstown Traffic", "Long Hot Summer Night", "Gipsy Eyes", "Burning Of The Midnight Lamp", "All Along The Watchtower", "Voodoo Chile", and all the rest, not to mention the phenomenal boundary breaking "1983 (A Merman I Should Turn To Be)" for the very first time, as they intended to be heard, all in perfect running order, and all as one piece. It must surely have secured it's place in the top 10 greatest albums of all time, possibly the TOP ONE even! And there it shall remain until the world blows up!!!
Until that moment? Well, we should all listen to his records and be thankful that Jimi Hendrix was born!!!
Tracklist : And The Gods Made Love, Electric Ladyland, Crosstown Traffic, Voodoo Chile, Little Miss Strange, Long Hot Summer Night, Come On (Let The Good Times Roll), Gipsy Eyes, Burning Of The Midnight Lamp, Rainy Day Dream Away, 1983 (A Merman I Should Turn To Be), Moon Turn The Tides...Gently Gently Away, Still Raining Still Dreaming, House Burning Down, All Along The Watchtower, and Voodoo Chile (Slight Return).
Musicians : Jimi Hendrix - Vocals / Guitar / Bass / Harpsichord, Noel Redding - Vocals / Bass, Mitch Mitchell - Drums, plus countless other guests such as Stevie Winwood, Brian Jones, Al Kooper e.t.c.
About : Ultra Rare 1968 UK Original 1st Press!!! This MASSIVELY RARE LP initially sold barely anything (LP's were also really expensive to most people back then!!!) and therefore had a very small run, and is INCREDIBLY HARD TO FIND, especially in this condition!!! AN absolute classic LP from this incredible band!!! An astonishing album that really DESERVES to be in EVERY serious 60's / 70's record collection!!! Don't miss out on this MEGA RARE LP!!! If you like good music, bid now!!!
The LP :
Labels :
Classic UK Original 1st Press inverted black Track labels!!! All sides are FANTASTIC with NO real signs of age, NO writing, NO stickers, and NO tears whatsoever!!! Just has a very minor printing error on side A and only a small amount of ultra light spindle marks which suggests that this hasn't had much play over the years at all!!! AWESOME for a 45 year old record!!! Both must grade overall at least as Very Good++!!!
Record : Visual -
Spectacular Original 1968 UK Vinyl!!! Nice bright, clean and shiny as if they were just pressed!!! Fantastic jet black mirror like surfaces, they look INCREDIBLE with NO nasty scratches, groovewear, or nasty deep scuffs whatsoever!!! The only blemishes off perfection are just a few BARELY VISIBLE totally non-sounding cosmetic paper scuffs, and only a few of the lightest, wispy sleeve traces/cleaning lines (only visible in strong angled light) from where it has sat or been removed from it's cover over the years!!! Of course, none of these ULTRA light blemishes interfere with play AT ALL!!! PHENOMENAL for a record of this age and rarity!!! You'll be amazed by how generally clean and unworn they are!!! Must grade overall at least as Very Good++!!! (graded STRICTLY to the UK RRPG standards, not overgraded AT ALL!!! Customer satisfaction is of 100% importance to me) Record : Audio - Thankfully, it plays AMAZINGLY with fantastic stereo separation and clarity!!! It really sounds incredible with NO hisses, hops, distortion, sticks OR skips!!! Only like pretty much ALL records has a tiny amount of ultra light ticks on the very rarest of occasions, and possibly just the MEREST TOUCH of low level static in the rarest few and far between places such as on the run in grooves and between some tracks, but that's truly about it!!! The vast, vast, majority of the music is TRULY crystal clear - It really does play with a CD-like near 100% black silence, but with that bass, depth, clarity and warmth you can only get from original UK 1st Press vinyl!!! EVEN the vast majority of the quiet sections!!! Absolutely ESSENTIAL!!! ASTONISHING for a record of this age and rarity!!! Must grade overall audibly at least as Excellent++!!! (graded STRICTLY to the UK RRPG standards, not trashed or overgraded AT ALL!!! Customer satisfaction is of 100% importance to me) Sleeve :Original UK 1st Press fully laminated 1968 WITHDRAWN gatefold E.J Day BLUE TEXT sleeve!!! IMPOSSIBLE to find this sleeve in anything approaching a good condition - most are spent, torn and worn due to age and the lifestyles of the buyers of this particular LP!!! This one is NOT, and looks FANTASTIC, especially considering the nature of these fragile sleeves!!! NO tears, NO writing, NO graffiti, NO splits, NO really bad marks AT ALL, and still ULTRA strong and solid after all these years!!! Only has a few signs of minor ageing such as only a few light laminate creases, a mere hint of a record imprint and some general near invisible surface grazing from where it has sat between sleeves over the years (being VERY picky here), a touch of denting to the four corners which basically ALL vintage LP's have, and POSSIBLY (just to be sure!!!) one or two other minor signs of age here and there, though nothing that really stands out to note at all!!! And that's truly about it!!! I tend to bring it down by listing the most minor negatives I can possibly find, but this remains an AWESOME sleeve, and a TRUE rarity to find one as brilliant as this - most have been virtually destroyed or are just about being held together, but not this one!!! The awesome inside pics also look AMAZING with very little ageing at all!!! It remains ultra strong, solid, unsplit and unspoilt, and even the spine remains ultra strong, solid, unworn and unsplit!!! Must grade overall at the very least as Very Good++!!! (graded STRICTLY to the UK RRPG standards, not trashed or overgraded AT ALL!!! Customer satisfaction is of 100% importance to me)
*Sorry for not having a photo of the front - ebay won't let me!*
Summary : A truly FANTASTIC example of this iconic INCREDIBLY RARE classic UK 1st Press LP with the IMPOSSIBLY RARE withdrawn blue text sleeve!!! Hard to find in ANY condition, but SERIOUSLY RARE TO FIND ONE AS OUTSTANDING AS THIS!!! YOU MAY NEVER GET THE CHANCE AGAIN, so don't miss out on this scarce opportunity to own a true piece of 60's/70's music history!!! Bid now!!!
Please take a look at all my other auctions for many other ultra rare classic LPs, and feel free to contact me with any questions you may have. Thanks again for looking, it's truly appreciated!! Cheers!!!I've realized that most countries have their own unique grading system. I base mine strictly on the UK RRPG grading system (occasionally with a + or a - to indicate the higher and lower ends of the grade, though I only use these if i'm having real trouble deciding!), so please check their chart for further clarity if you are unsure of what my grades mean. As a general rule, a mint record will be 100% perfect, an excellent record will be in fantastic clean condition with the occasional light mark and light use from the years, and a very good record will have noticeable visual markings and obvious signs of age and use, but will still remain clean with relatively light wear and will play fantastically well with plenty of life remaining in it. I very rarely offer records below the very good region unless they are of an EXCEPTIONAL rarity and playing quality...I hope this helps!
