JIMI HENDRIX - Are You Experienced RARE MONO LP....plus

Up for auction are two Jimi Hendrix LP's. One is quite rare so I'm going to describe it in more detail than usual.

The rare one is a 1967 Reprise #R 6261 mono copy of "Are You Experienced". I played this record through on both sides and it played very clean with very minimum surface noise, more so in the quiet passages (my systems hi/lo filters eliminated this). That being said, the vinyl does show light surface scuffs/scratches that don't affect play. The label is NM on both sides. The cover is another story, I would grade it G (good) or G- due mainly to the seam splits (7" split on top, a 1" and 2" split on bottom, there is also some fading,ring & edge wear. Plain white inner sleeve.

The second album is Jimi Hendrix Experience Smash Hits on Polydor #2310 268 stereo (made in England 1967). This one played with more noticeable surface noise, but not overpowering, the B side being worse than the A side, VG. Label is a strong VG+ on both sides. The cover shows some edge wear,ring wear, light creasing but no seam splits. Plain white inner sleeve.

I usually offer a refund but I've recently had some unscrupulous buyers that returned a worse condition copy of the one sent. Check my feedback if you're in doubt.

I use the Goldmine grading system and try to grade on the conservative side.

If your looking for a mint copy of "Are You Experienced", this isn't it, but it's one of the best playing copies I've had in some time.

Goldmine Grading Standards:

MINT (M): We only grade albums as Mint if they are still sealed and, obviously, uplayed.

NEAR MINT (NM): A nearly perfect record. The record should show no obvious signs of wear. An LP jacket should have no creases, folds, seam splits or any other noticeable similar defect. No cut out holes, either. Basically, a Near Mint condition record looks as if it has just been pulled from the cover for the first time.

NEAR MINT MINUS OR VERY GOOD PLUS PLUS (NM- or VG++): Very close to being Near Mint.

VERY GOOD PLUS (VG+): A very Good Plus record will show some signs that it was played and otherwise handled by a previous owner who took good care of it. Record surfaces may show some slight signs of wear and may have slight scuffs or very light scratches that don't affect one's listening experience. Slight warps that do not affect he sound are OK. The label may have some ring wear or discoloration, but it should be barely noticeable. An LP jacket may have slight signs of wear and may be marred by a cut out hole, indentation or corner. Seam splits will be less than 1" (one inch).  In general, if not for a couple minor things wrong with it, this would be Near Mint.

VERY GOOD (VG): Most of the defects found in a VG+ record will be more pronounced in a VG disc. Surface noise will be evident upon playing, especially in soft passages and during a song's intro and fade, but will not overpower the music otherwise. Groove wear will start to be noticeable, as will light scratches affect the sound. Labels may be marred by writing or have tape or stickers attached.  Seam splits may be more pronounced.

GOOD (G): Good does not mean Bad! A record in Good or Good Plus condition can be put onto a turntable and will play through without skipping. But it will have significant surface noise and scratches and visible groove wear. A jacket or sleeve will have seam splits, especially at the bottom or on the spine. Tape, writing, ring wear or other defects will start to overwhelm the object.

FAIR OR POOR:  The condition makes you want to cry.  Sold only for sentimental value, or because the vinyl or cover are in better condition.
