THE JIMI HENDRIX EXPERIENCE - " AXIS: BOLD AS LOVE ", Track (612 003) MONO, UK Pressing, 1967.

Very rare first English mono pressing of classic 1967 album by The Jimi Hendrix Experience... this is the extremely rare 1st pressing with the gatefold  sleeve, insert/poster and original inner sleeve, plus maxtrix numbers which end in A 1/B 1 denoting the very first run off the press.

I have been told that only the first 500 units pressed came with this insert/poster... although that may be a slight underestimate, it was never a high number and most copies have either lost the insert/poster or it has been mangled and destroyed. As my photo clearly shows, not only is the insert present but it is in great condition - free from creases and although it looks a little thumbed, it is still in remarkable condition considering it's age and fragility)

This record has been professionally cleaned on my Moth cleaning machine (Note: after cleaning such a record, I do not have the heart to put it back in it's original sleeve so I have put the cleaned record in a new inner and included the original so it is still complete).

PLEASE NOTE: this particular auction also includes and four section fold out poster which was not originally anything to do with the LP but as I found them together, there seems no point in now seperating them. According to a friendly ebayer, this extra poster originally came from the January 1968 edition of a girls magazine (this particular example is in excellent condition). In the name of absoloute clarity I must concede that whe I first listed this LP last Friday, I mistakenly believed that this extra poster was part of the original LP. Thanks to several helpful ebayers, I now know this not to be the case which is why I have ended the previous listing early and ammended it for relisting today. This was the only reason for pulling the listing early and relisting and I still stand by all other details previously listed and I am now confident that every part of my listing is now 100% accurate.



CONDITION:

VINYL = V.G.++ (generally plays EX-)  Under my bright grading lamp there are some minor visual inperfections - I can make out a few faint paper-scuffs, a couple of faint hairline marks and some light groove damage. However, like so many well pressed 60's LPs, this appears to be a highly resilient record and none of these visual deficiencies directly correlate to any audible defects.
When playing this record right through the quiet skit track that starts the record is noticeably noiser than the music tracks on the rest of the record and there is a bit of faint surface noise audible during the silences between tracks and during the silent run-in and occasionally just audible during a couple of quiet sections, but I was testing with headphones and once the music kicks in, it disappears - in my mind, these minor imperfections are by no means loud or consistent enough to ruin the listening experience... although it is only fair to point out so that potential bidders can take this into account when placing their max bids. Providing you are prepared to accept that it is a 1967 vinyl record and not a sterile CD then this LP should make a good honest copy for someone who intends to play and enjoy it - those looking for a museum piece or a lifeless CD would probably be happier avoiding this particular LP though.
Once the music is playing, this record still plays strongly and free from nasty distortion, or big clicks/pops,etc - clearly it has not been overplayed and the fairly clean labels with only very light spindle trails also support this.

Note: for the testing/grading of this record, I have played it all the through with headphones and my Linn LP12 Sondek turntable, which is generally quite critical although I must point out that I cannot guarantee exactly how this LP (or others I have for sale) will sound on your turntable - sorry to be so uptight, but I have met some very silly people on ebay over the years!

Also for this particular LP as it is a valuable record, I have recorded 4 short sound clips which I can email to bidders on request so they can actually hear the condition for themselves. They are all .WAV files which have been recorded straight from the record with no remastering, etc. They include the aforementioned noisy "skit track" and intros from three other randomly selected tracks. I would strongly recommend all serious bidders take these clips, listen to them carefully and place their max bids accordingly. (For total clarity, I must point out that these clips were recorded from my DJ set-up of a Technics SL1200 turntable with an Ortofon needle, simply because my LP12 based hi-fi set-up is in another room to my computer)

INSERT/POSTER = EX- (Generally in good shape and apart from it's original centre-fold, it has no creases. That said, I have marked it down a little bit for looking a bit "thumbed" and for some very faint foxing just visible on the white sections - see photo)

SLEEVE =  EX-  (Generally in great shape... no big rips/tears, defacing, delamination, etc. I have just maked it down for some very light general wear and a couple overy small creases - see photo for further clarification.)



NOTE: It's probably worth pointing out that we are an actual long standing physical shop and soundtrack-specialist mail order firm with literally decades of record trading experience under our collective belts and unlike so many of the jokers and have-a-go heroes that currently clog up ebay, we know how to grade records (often an excellent LP from us will surpass a less reputable seller's so-called mint items).
