THE JIMI HENDRIX EXPERIENCE

"AXIS: BOLD AS LOVE"

This is it! Scarce UK 1967 original TRACK 612-003 MONO ORIGINAL second LP. There's no better way on earth to hear the first two Hendrix albums other than on the original MONO BRITISH LP's. This is the way Hendrix intended the record to be heard, being personally in charge of both the mono & stereo mixes of "Axis", and the mono ONLY first LP.

This gets my vote for 'Best Hendrix LP', which of course is a matter of opinion. We all have one! Yes, "Are You Experienced" is a masterpiece, and "Electric Ladyland" changed everything. But "Axis" was the clarion call of a new voice spoken clearer and more powerfully in my estimation than any other rock record of the day, and broke more ground permanently than anything else Jimi ever did. Seems to me....

Anyway, here's what you get on the LP:

  • EXP
  • Up From The Skies
  • Spanish Castle Magic
  • Wait Until Tomorrow
  • Ain't No Telling
  • Little Wing
  • If Six Was Nine
  • You've Got Me Floating
  • Castles Made Of Sand
  • She's So Fine (OK, so Noel wasn't George Harrison...)
  • One Rainy Wish
  • Little Miss Lover
  • Bold As Love

I rest my case.

Original laminated interior 'flip-back' cover has some slight typical but minor lamination 'spiders' around the edges and very slight corner tips wear. There is just a touch of wear along the opening side of the gatefold but this is slight, normal and not a sign of abuse or neglect. There is no writing, no stickers, no split seams, so separated lamination. Nice inside and out with only slight wear.

The RARE insert has very slight wear at the top of the fold but it is intact, clear and nice, with only moderate surface crinkling simply from being handled. Basically still flat and nice. No writing, no rips, no stickers, no creases other than the fold from the factory.

The LP is still in it's original poly-lined bag. It has superficial play wear, a few purely superficial marks, plays and sounds good, labels are clean, no writing, no stickers. I listened to this all the way through. It has light intermittent surface noise, most noticeable at the play-in groove during EXP and mostly minor after that. It's not absolutely perfect but is thoroughly enjoyable and the mix is undeniably incredibly different than the stereo version. The bass drum alone on 'Up From The Skies' let's you know from the get go that this will be a different 'experience' if I may be so 'bold'....

Overall a VG++ cover and conservatively speaking nice VG+ or better LP, with a VG++ insert. NICE! Big time rare.
