DETAILS :  Made in France on BARCLAY ~ 9300 16~19
 Original First Issue with 8 page b&w booklet plus smaller titles insert
A 4 LP  Boxed Set that includes Jimi's first 3 albums:
ARE YOU EXPERIENCED; AXIS BOLD AS LOVE; and ELECTRIC LADYLAND (2 lps)
No release date shown but this was probably an early to mid 70s (limited) issue.

EXTRA DETAILS : This cool  box set was only issued in France. Booklet text is in French.
The ARE YOU EXPERIENCED LP is in Mono !!
 AXIS... &  ELECTRIC LADYLAND are the (normal) Stereo versions.

VINYL : (graded visually)
 Disc One is "Are You Experienced": EX : A few light surface marks.
Disc Two is "Axis Bold As Love": EX : A few very light surface marks.
Discs Three & Four are "Electric Ladyland": NM- : Little visible evidence of play.

BOX : VG+ : Three corners of the lid are split. Very slight ringwear. Spine legible. Shelf wear on edges. Spine binding is intact & lid is still attached to box. Bottom back cover is split.

INSERTS : LP-sized 8-page booklet is intact with slight wear, (front cover spotting).
 Contains lots of cool photos & French text. No date shown.

Also includes a small one-sided insert showing the song titles.

LABELS : Very sharp, no marks.

BEAR'S NOTES : Here is a seldom seen limited edition 4 LP box set containing Jimi's first three albums, made in France & issued on the Barclay label sometime in the (early?) '70s. The package includes  a unique 8-page booklet with lots of nice b&w photos & text in French. Disc one offers the UK version of Are You Experienced (w/ the songs "Red House", "Remember" & "Can You See Me" & the odd UK sequence.) The Electric Ladyland labels say Mono/Stereo (?) but the LPs play Stereo. The other discs' labels do not mention Mono or Stereo but AXIS plays Stereo while the ARE YOU EXPERIENCED LP plays in glorious Mono. All four discs appear seldom spun but certainly could use a good cleaning for optimum sound. The box itself shows a bit of shelf wear but is basically intact. Finally, all record labels contain the printed words "Suns and Rainbow". Not sure what that means but I do know that this French Hendrix box is a very scarce item & "Third Stone..." sounds extra wild in Mono.

A SIMPLE VINYL GRADING SYSTEM :

Mint (M): Still Sealed/Unplayed/Unopened/Holy Grail
Mint minus (M-): New and Possibly Unplayed ; a rarely used grade.
Near Mint (NM): Like-new, with little or no visible wear; very collectible.

Near Mint minus (NM-):
Almost like-new, with very slight signs of age, play or wear that are strictly cosmetic.

Excellent (EX) aka Very Good double-plus (VG++):
Way above average, very nice, no serious flaws; seldom spun, very clean.

Very Good plus (VG+):
An above average used LP; a few visible surface marks/paper scuffs; minor surface noise.

Very Good (VG) :
An average used LP, far from perfect but not in bad shape; a few light scratches.
Possibly noisy (pops, clicks); plays through with no skips.

Very Good minus (VG-) :
Reveals lots of wear/noise when viewed or spun but is not actually defective or warped.
 


LP Cover grading is a much less exact, more subjective science. Generally, the truly collectible grades range from Mint to Excellent (aka VG++) depending on general wear. Main cover flaws such as split seams or spine splits, ring wear, cut or bent corners, hole punches, writing, water damage etc. should always be mentioned in a proper auction listing. Your item will be packaged with tender loving care. All records are professionally sight-graded, occasionally play-graded. Please keep in mind that used LPs from the '50s & '60s are very rarely found in actual Mint condition, seldom in Near Mint. Proper record grading involves skill, knowledge & honesty.
