This is the Original Mega Rare 1968 Jimi Hendrix Experience First Pressing Issued on the 16th October 1968 UK Double Album titled “Electric Ladyland” on Black / Silver Track 613008 / 09. The matrix numbers are as follows SideA 6133008A, SideB 6133009A, SideC 6133009B & SideD 6133008B.

“Electric Ladyland” took psychedelic experimentation as far as he could within the original Experience trio format. That meant pushing the barriers of late-'60s studio technology as far as they could bend, particularly with regard to multi-tracking and effects that could only be achieved through certain treatments and manipulation of the tape itself. It also meant greater freedom and looseness in the playing and the songwriting. This is Hendrix at his best: the dreamy wah-wah guitars of "Rainy Day, Dream Away" were only matched by the dreaminess of the lyrics, and "Have You Ever Been (To Electric Ladyland)" and "Gypsy Eyes" were also standouts. "1983...(A Merman I Should Turn to Be)" and "Voodoo Chile" were lengthy cuts dominated by jam-like instrumental passages; "Crosstown Traffic" and a cover of Dylan's "All Along the Watchtower," by contrast, were two of his catchiest and most pop-friendly tunes. "Voodoo Chile," "Voodoo Child (Slight Return)," and a cover of Earl King's "Come On" are three of his most determined forays into the blues, albeit the blues as fed through a nearly avant-garde filter.

This First pressing is identified by the labels on the left centre above the catolgue number 613 008 / 9 have the matrix (inverted) in smaller print. Later issues only have the catalogue number. Later issues have only the catalogue number. Also the cover is totally different, with the outside’s photo a distinctly darker tint than the re-issues. Inside the gatefold the differences are massive the titles graphics on the original are in a deep blue colour. The re – issues titles are in white, with difference s in the graphics layout. There’s more with pictures of Mitch & Noel above the titles on the 1st issue, issue very large. The re – issues have these pictures reduced to the size of a postage stamp. The most important point is the original vinyl was far thicker & heavier, with unbelievable sounds in its very deep grooves. This album was produced & directed by Jimi Hendrix.   

The record labels are in stunning condition (see pictures) with no wear, writing & barely any spindle marks at all. This superb Hendrix double album is pressed on thick heavy duty 60’s vinyl and still retains it’s just pressed look with a very shinny lustre. There are NO visual defects and plays superb crisp & clean with NO pops, crackles or jumps there is also NO groove wear or distortion. SIMPLY AWESOME & is graded NEAR MINT. The gatefold laminated sleeve has barley any spinal wear just a small amount of corner wear, straight & firm opening edges & barley any creases. The sleeve still retains it very bright colourful images with no fading. This sleeve is graded a conservative VG+. Both albums come complete with there original inner sleeves stating in light blue in ‘Plastic Bags Can Be Dangerous’ etc. I believe this to be Jimi Hendrix ultimate album which is probably the most talked about & sought after album 60’s album of all time.
