Description
This is an auction for a rare LP by, Jethro Tull, This Was.
This was released by Island records in 1968 and has catalogue number ILP985. This is the rarer 1st pressing in Mono with a pink label and black/orange circle logo. Please check the pictures for clarification.
Matrix: ILP 985 A ILP 985 B
Condition: The gatefold sleeve has some lamination creases, buffing to the very corners and light buffing to the mouth edge. Under closer examaintion the circular impression of the vinyl just shows through on the rear top half of the sleeve and some very light dirt or fading marks can just be seen. Lastly in the centre a couple of small creases can be seen. Spine & edges Ex, no tears, bends or discolouring, complete and graded at VG+.
This comes with a plain white inner, unsure if original.
Both labels look clean Under closer examination some spider spindle trails can be seen each side. The centre hole shows some signs of wear. Please check the pics for clarification.
The vinyl retains its shine with one stain mark seen running in from the run-of-groove on side one. Under a strong light numerous scratches can be seen. I have test played this through both sides and found that this has audible quiet feckling heard in places through both sides. Only one scratch causes any real audible problems, this is on the very last track of side two, this track is certainly less than a minute long but has a deep scratch running the length of this track. This gives a loud tick for the length of this short track. I have managed to picture this and the other superficial scratches found on side A. The feckling mentioned, heard in places, is quiet and well in the background as the music itself is loud and maintaining its strong audio. Other than the very last track of side two this certainly plays with no major deterioation in sound quality and does not appear to suffer from much reduction due to wear. So graded at VG, with most tracks probably playing a little better and at VG+ with the last track mentioned playing below VG.
Better than a gap filler, nice sleeve and strong audio, surface noise in places.
