JETHRO TULL - THIS WAS - FIRST PRESSING ON PINK ISLAND EYE LABEL     CAT NO: ILP 985 - MATRIX NUMBERS A/B   VINYL: RATES AS VERY GOOD+. THIS IS A FIRST PRESSING MONO VERSION OF THE 1968 JETHRO TULL DEBUT ALBUM - THE SOUGHT-AFTER MONO MIX WHICH IS GENERALLY AGREED TO BE FAR SUPERIOR TO THE STERO VERSION.  BOTH THE VINYL AND THE COVER ARE IN VERY GOOD CONDITION CONSIDERING THE AGE OF THIS ALBUM AND THE NOTORIOUSLY FRAGILE GATEFOLD COVER. THE AUDIO IS RICH AND VERY SHARP. THERE IS NO MUDDYING OF THE SOUND AND THE VINYL IS VERY CLEAN AND HAS OBVIOUSLY BEEN WELL CARED FOR. IT PLAYS WITH NO SKIPS, STICKS OR LOUD POPS; THERE IS ONE MINOR CLICK FOR A FEW REVOLUTIONS AT THE END OF "IT'S BREAKING ME UP", AND SOME MINOR BACKGROUND NOISE ON THE RUN-INS, BUT NOTHING SERIOUS. IT IS ONLY THESE MINOR FAULTS WHICH DOWNGRADE THIS COPY FROM AN EXCELLENT RATING. VISUALLY THE HEAVY SIXTIES VINYL STILL HAS A DEEP SHEEN AND LOOKS GREAT. MOST IMPORTANTLY IT SOUNDS GREAT TOO! THERE ARE A COUPLE OF MARKS WHICH LOOK AS IF THEY WOULD BE AUDIBLE, BUT THEY DON'T AFFECT PLAY.   LABELS: PINK ISLAND WITH THE "EYE" LOGO, ROUGH TEXTURE. SIDE "A" IS EXCELLENT, WITH NO WRITING OR MARKS. SIDE TWO HAS A DISCOLOURATION MARK WHERE AN ATTEMPT HAS BEEN MADE TO REMOVE SOME INK (SEE PHOTOS).   COVER: GATEFOLD , FRONT LAMINATED SLEEVE; SOME SCUFFING AND CREASING TO THE SPINE; INSIDE UNLAMINATED GATEFOLD CLEAN AND BRIGHT WITH NO WRITING OR MARKS. THERE IS AN AREA ON THE BACK COVER WHERE A STICKER HAS BEEN REMOVED LEAVING A DAMAGED PATCH ABOUT 8CM BY 3CM. NO WRITING OR OTHER MARKS - GENERALLY VERY GOOD FOR ITS AGE.   INNER SLEEVE: PLAIN WHITE POLY-LINED PAPER      THE MONO VERSION OF THIS RECORD IS NOW TRULY RARE AND BECOMING VERY HARD TO FIND IN THIS CONDITION.       ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ I have been a record collector since the 1960's and have traded them for the last twenty years. Mint - The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. Excellent - The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. Very Good - The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Good - The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. Fair - The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise, it may even jump. Poor - The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc Bad - The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection filler.
