Description

Jefferson Airplane        Takes Off             RCA Victor LPM 3584

Even before Grace Slick joined, this was a wonderful and musically formidable band with their trademark soaring vocals and high propulsion virtuoso playing already intact. Future Moby Grape visionary Skip Spence is here on drums, driving along master bassist (admired by no less than Charles Mingus!) Jack “The Eyebrow” Cassidy. Jorma’s singular guitar is all over the place (check him out on “Tobacco Road”) and triple threat singing by Marty Balin, Paul Kantner and Signe Anderson is an amazing blend of harmony and anarchy.

Disc is VG++, cover has minor ring wear. This is rare by virtue of being mono, but is not one of the mega-rare issues.

After a hiatus, during which we moved and built our Permanentrecords library/vault/watering hole, we are finally up and running as an Ebay seller again. Welcome back to all our old friends and hello to new ones. We’re going to try things a bit differently this time. We will still feature great, rare, obscure, strange and little-known vinyl, but we’ve decided on no reserves and a very low opening bid on even the choicest stuff. We’re hoping that this will keep you coming back to us for the chance at some genuine bargains and maybe even steals, as we allow each item to find its natural price. We are also hoping to expand into some of our other interests in the near future, like vintage clothes and books. We will of course still try to maintain the same high standards of service and customer satisfaction. Good hunting!
