BLISTERING ALBUM from the master of his craft. For me, this album is the penultimate example of his early period. The tracks are all incredibly powerful and his lead playing is utterly evocative. Surrounded by incredible players including keyboardists Max Middleton, bassist Clive Chaman, drummer Cozy Powell and vocalist Bobby Tench the music is uncluttered but hugely expressive. Sure, many have classified the style as proto metal but the jazz and blues elements are always at the forground pushing and pulling where it matters most. His guitar work is literally off the hook on the majority of these tracks.
Amazing to find a Quad mix version of this album - very rare.
This auction is part of a fantastic collection of seventies rock which I was lucky enough to acquire. Most of these records were stored with the utmost care and sparsely played. Some were possibly never played or may have been for just a handful of times.
Pressing: Epic, UK, 1971
Vinyl: Nice clean condition. No spindle marks. Surface suffers from a slight mottled effect - the surface has reacted with the plastic film of the inner sleeve. Fortunately Playback reveals no issues. Grades as MINT-!
Cover: No signs of use. Sharp corners, no dings, no bends, no ring wear, no split seams and no creases. Spine is stiff, square and totally uncrushed. Impossible to find like this after 43 years. Looks like it walked out of the factory yesterday. Grades as shop fresh MINT!
