Description
MONSTER rockabilly rarity from Madison, Tennessee's Dixie Records label...1958 backwoods rocker bopper split release by J.C. Sawyer doing "Goin' Steppin'" and Howard Bingham and the Rockets performing "Baby Love." Original issue, with J.C. Sawyer side matrix hand etching reading "DIXIE RECORDS 45 - CP - 1391 - 692 - A C" and the Howard Bingham side reads "DIXIE RECORDS 45 - CP - 1391 - 692 - B C." Condition is G+, as this record has seen considerable wear but plays through completely without skips, but with varying amounts of surface noise - I have uploaded complete audio of both sides to a YouTube posting "092417 J.C. Sawyer Goin' Steppin' Howard Bingham Baby Love". Please assess that video to hear condition of this single!
Vinyl has significant light surface scratches and scuffs, and a slight amount of heat warp that does not affect playback. Both sides play without any extra tonearm weight on both a Pro-Ject Debut with carbon fiber tonearm and also the Fisher Price record player used in the photos to document the degree of warp. Labels on both sides show considerable wear and some fading; Howard Bingham side has a roughly 1/2" by 1/2" torn piece that is still attached and heads toward the runout grooves. This record is offered as-is and is your opportunity to get an original copy of this scarcity until an upgrade comes along...but it may not, as this is such an infrequently offered item because on top of its scarcity, true rockabilly fans know this is a GREAT one! $3.50 US shipping, $8.50 Canada, $13.50 worldwide.
