August 2nd, 1959 : at Comblain La-Tour Joe Napoli organized the first International Jazz Festival. The idea was born from the American organizer's desire to do something in return for the hospitality he had been granted by this tiny Belgian village during the " Von Runsted " offensive in the Ardennes when a wound had forced him into immobility. The show proved to be a great success but nobody could have imagined that a crowd of 25.000 fans would have turned up for the second festival a year late , on the 6th and 7th August 1960.

This long-playing features a selection taken from the Festival's full twenty listening hours.
