Jason Crest - A Place In The Sun/ Black Mass

(Philips BF 1809 UK 7" Single 1969)

 

This is a 1969 UK 1st pressing 7" Single in very nice overall condition. The record is pressed on thick vinyl & has blue & silver paper "Philips" labels. These have a large centre hole. It comes complete with its original 3 pronged plastic removable centre too. The record has 1st press 326993 1F#-1 and 326993 2F#-1 matrix numbers. These are machine stamped in the dead wax. It comes complete with its original generic Philips company paper sleeve.

This is a genuine UK 1st pressing of this excellent late 1960's UK Psych 7" single. The B-side "Black Mass" is now rightly considered to be a fantastic & madcap late 1960's UK Psych Rock track. There is backwards looping, backwards and "normal" heavy psych guitar and demonic vocals. The A-side is in a more Pop-Psych style. It is a very good song too. This single failed to register at all in the UK charts. Therefore, it is extremely hard to locate in the UK. Vinyl: There is a light 2 cm & 1 cm hairline surface mark midway on the B-side right near each other. They can hardly be seen under a strong light. There is also a very mild 2 cm hairline surface mark at the start of the A-side. There are two very light hairline surface marks at the start of the A-side. These are quite near each other. They measure 1.5 cm and 2 cm in length. Again, they can hardly be seen under a strong light.

Otherwise, there are some light, mild, very mild or very minor surface paper sleeve rubs which can hardly be seen under a strong light. The original paper sleeve, over time, has left some light, very mild or very minor feint, or dull, surface paper marks on some areas. These, again, can hardly be seen under a strong light. Overall, Very Good++ condition. The Labels are in Very Good++ condition. There is a feint circular "BBC Gramophone Library" stamp on both labels. The stamp ink is a dark blue-ish colour, so it hardly really notices against the blue of the labels. Otherwise, next to no wear. 

The original company paper sleeve is in Very Good++ condition. There is some light, mild or very mild ringwear, fading & creasing. There are no seam splits.

I have play tested this single in its entirety. The A-side plays Very Good to Very Good+ overall. There is some light, mild, very mild or very minor crackle noticeable in some quieter places. It is always very much in the background & never overpowers the music. There is a very small area of mild to more moderate intermittent crackle. This doesn't last very long.

The B-side plays Very Good+ to Near Excellent overall & Excellent in some places. There is some light, mild, very mild or very minor crackle in a few quieter places. There are no clicks or pops. The B-side plays extremely well indeed! 

I shall place the vinyl into a separate plain paper sleeve. This will protect the original picture sleeve from any damage during the shipping process.

  >>  Grading Information All grading is very strict & adheres to 'Record Collector' specifications. However, I have fine tuned them & they are explained below. All vinyl is examined closely under a strong light & play tested.

MINT Condition = A perfect copy! Almost impossible to find like this. 

NEAR MINT Condition = Very nearly mint just slightly under, There may be a very few, very light paper surface sleeve rubs that can hardly be seen under strong light. This disc has been played a couple of times at most. The sleeve is virtually perfect - there is very minimal wear only.

EXCELLENT Condition = A clean & tidy copy that shows minimal defects. There will be light, very mild or very minor surface sleeve rubs. There will be no scratches. The cover will be very nice & clean with maybe minimal creasing, ringwear or edge rubbing wear etc...

NEAR EXCELLENT Condition = You can tell this record has been played a few times, but it has been well cared for. There will be minor surface marks only. The sleeve may have light, mild or very mild creasing,ringwear & very mild rubbing wear to the edges etc.... Overall, it will be a very serviceable copy that you will be pleased with.

Very Good Condition = A well played but very decent overall copy. There will be a few marks on the vinyl, but they won't be nasty scratches, just relatively light needle scuffs and sleeve removal marks, they will be noticeable but won't detract from play too much. Cover will show signs of storage/ ageing, e.g., creasing, slight folding, spinewear, ringwear or sticker tears etc... The record will not be trashed!!

Please note that I also use "+" or "-" symbols for this grading. A plus symbol is obviously at the top end of "Very Good" & is really not far from being in "near excellent" condition. The minus symbol obviously means it is at the lower end. This will mean that it is near to being in "Good+" condition.

Double LPs are classed as two LPs. Also gatefold sleeves, posters, inserts, etc.. can increase postage costs.

Please note that there are now VAT import charges from the UK into all EU countries. Anything under 150 Euros will need an IOSS number. VAT is paid at point of sale. For any items over 150 Euros in value. There will be a customs charge too. These vary, I believe, from country to country. Please check your relevant postal service online for details. Please note that these charges are beyond my control and are the law for outside parcels going into the EU.

All records will be sent in high quality vinyl box/ mailers with at least two card stiffeners either side of the LP or 7" Single. I use a cruciform box for larger orders (3-6 LPs). All parcels will be marked "Fragile" and dispatch time will generally be between 1-3 days after payment.

I will also remove the vinyl from the sleeve & place them in a re-sealable polythene sleeve. In order to prevent seam splits. Depending on the inner sleeve; I often remove the vinyl from the inner sleeve & place it in a separate plain paper, or polythene-lined, plain inner sleeve. I am very conscientious and careful when packaging your LP(s).

I consider my postage & packaging costs to be very transparent & very fair. Packaging costs will generally be between £0.80 to £1.50. I am not adding any further costs for handling, etc...
