JASIS: Truly one of the greatest and most unique sounds in the music world today (To Quote the LIner Notes).
This Jazz improvisation LP was released by Topaz Records (TLS 1207) out of Seattle in, I believe, the early 70's. The group, JASIS, is the brainchild of Milton Simons, "Renaissance Man". It consists of Vibraphone Driven, completely spontaneous, improvisations (according to the liner notes) seemingly recorded in front of some sort of audience.
I have included a couple of audio samples & high quality scans of the liner notes to give bidders an idea of what they are bidding on as it is unlikely that many outside of the Pacific Northwest have been exposed to this LP.
The three improvisations are entitled "Base on an East Indian Raga," "Based on the Spanish," & "Based on a Japanese Mode."
Vinyl is VG+, occasional light surface noise, which is never distracting, and a few light tics here & there. Vinyl looks GREAT, beautiful sheen and next to no surface marks. The labels are clean though there is a bit of print, which could be bleed through from a sticker as there seems to be a bit of sticky residue there as well, visible on Side A Label (see image below).
Jacket is Strong VG, the upper opening edge corner is cut, ring wear are minimal, corner wear is slight except for the bottom opening edge corner which has a bit of a crinkly bend. The bottom edge is worn with a split originating at the opening edge (aprox 1"). There are a couple of dings along the opening edge. There are one or two small brown stains near the bottom edge of the back cover. THe high gloss black on the front shows some finger smudges.
