JANICE SLATER/L.SAMMY/IN PEOPLE/CUSTOM/FUNK/TULLY

This is a 4 track custom EP by 1960’s rock/soul/funk/pop outfit the In People.

It was available at their gigs in Adelaide at the legendary Go-Go discotheque “Big Daddys”.

There’s more concerning the place on Google. The record has four different trax and it’s never clear exactly who’s involved.

The first track on side one is an upbeat funky instrumental featuring organ and guitar.

The second track features an up tempo funk/soulish vocal about how cool Big Daddy’s is ,

I think, by Little Sammy Gaha who went on to do northern soul in Europe some years later.

The (b) side is a second different song in the same style by the same band.

The last track on side two has Janice Slater on vocals. The In People lasted only a couple of years (1966-1968)

and included Michael Carlos (keyboards) and Josh Blake (bass) both of whom went on to join mega group Tully later.

All songs mention Big Daddys in some way so it may have been a promotional thing.

Anyway, it all rocks along in a funky sorta way and is a rare memento of a certain place and time

with band performers who went on to bigger things.
