SMASH RECORDS - ORIGINAL ! 1964 ! though some believe 1965
from the internet :
this is an extremely rare LP as it was only on sale for a short period of time. It became part of an embroiled legal dispute with JB's contractual commitments to the KING label, and his growing dissatisfaction with how he was being managed. He shot across to SMASH and recorded several items and release, by the time the legal wheels got moving, this LP was being released, and a court order saw to it that it was pulled from sale. I believe the period on sale was only a couple of weeks. When the legal agreements had been sorted, this LP was re-released on the SMASH in STEREO, and with a completely different cover.
not only is this rare because of the above facts , this is the EXTREMELY RARE - PROMO VERSION ! with PINK LABELS ! , so there are even fewer !!!
record is VG to VG+ ( quite nice overall , with some light lines/marks/minor scratches and specks . a few of which are just very slightly feelable with the edge of a fingernail . i played the enitire lp , plays very well to great , with some very , very minor surface noise , very , very low in the mix . mostly only noticeable between tracks and during quiet parts . also, has some occasional very minor ticks here and there with a very few regular normal ticks .still a very , very enjoyable listen , in my opinion . NO skips on my turntable with lightweight tonearm and light tracking force . RARE PROMO ! )
