Here's an early LP by JAMES BROWN, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE 1964 FIRST MONO pressing on BLACK KING LABEL. James Brown had 9 lives in music, and his early work is incredible for the ground it broke. And not only with the wild funky soulful music, but also with his iconic performances. So few artists at the time could match in concert what they recorded. But Brown did. In an era with almost no live albums, Brown killed it with maybe one of the best live LPs of the 60's in Live at the Apollo. This LP, from 1964 is just so great.
This copy is beautiful. You have to understand how few copies were sold in the first place, as he was selling to a specific audience, and then you have to understand what the quality of turntable cartridges were at the time to appreciate a surviving copy. This copy plays great. The music, and his voice jump off the table, and it's a great play and listen. The quality of the vinyl and the recording sound like it's from it's time. The LP is in NM condition- It does have a small tear to the label on side 1 though. The cover is VG+. The seams and spine are perfect. The cover has very bright and vivid colors. It has a 1/4" ding top right. The back cover shows some toning from age mostly on the left side. It's a great copy in great condition.
