Incredibly rare....very few of these metallic acetate master references were cut. Few survived as most were eventually scrapped.
UNISSUED in this form, this is the original undubbed BROTHER RAP PARTS 1 & 2 with Maceo Parker's great sax solo fully audible. I CRIED (Mix #1) on the flip side.
BROTHER RAP was recorded October 14, 1969, with Brown's classic band including Maceo Parker, Kush Griffith, Fred Wesley, Jimmy Nolen, Sweet Charles and the great Clyde Stubblefield.
But by the time James was ready to release the record, that band was gone - replaced by The J.B.'s of Bootsy and Catfish Collins fame. Soo....James re-mixed the record, muting Maceo's easily identifiable sax solo! THIS ACETATE is the original record with Maceo's solo intact!
I CRIED was recorded February 14, 1970, with a band of Cincinnati area musicians assembled by arranger Dave Mathews.
NOTE: Acetate reference discs are not intended for repeated play - their function was as a TEST record.. HOWEVER, these play and sound great!
