JACOB MILLER Killer (Top Ranking) Inner Circle RARE Jamaica 1st Pressing MINT-
Very RARE early, if not first Jamaican pressing of the Inner Circle lead singer`s solo album "Killer", on Top Ranking Records (1978). The Top Ranking label was founded by Ian Lewis of Inner Circle.
With run-off grooves signed by "R. Lewis", this specific pressing of "Killer" is certified to have been mastered by none other than Inner Circle guitarist Roger Lewis himself!
Initially a member of Augustus Pablo`s Rockers collective, Jacob Miller soon teamed up with the more commercially oriented Inner Circle, to become one of Jamaica`s most versatile, popular reggae bands of the mid-to-late seventies. Soon, Miller was maintaining a more roots-oriented solo career, whilst simultaneously clocking up pop hits ("Blame It On The Sun" for Trojan Records) with Inner Circle.
With the world-wide crossover success of Inner Circle`s "Everything Is Great" (Island, 1979) and his characteristic vocal style, Jacob Miller became Jamaica`s most popular lead singer, rivalled only by close friend Bob Marley and The Wailers. An explosive performer, Miller`s live appearances have become the stuff of legend, and it was Jacob Miller and Inner Circle that headlined the famed One Love Peace Concert in Kingston (April 22, 1978), not Bob Marley.
At the peak of their success, Inner Circle were preparing to embark on a US tour with The Wailers when disaster struck: On March 23rd 1980, Jacob Miller, along with his young son, was killed in a car crash. One of the founders of the "Rockers" reggae style and a unique vocal performer, Jacob Miller is fondly remembered by those in the know.
