JACK SELS was born in 1922 in Belgium.He died in 1970.Completely self-taught,he played all saxophones after World War 2,until he picked the tenor and arranging as his main preferences.In the beginning he was influenced by Lester Young,with later influences from Sonny Stitt,yet Jack was a pure individual in style and conception.This album is the only recording on vinyl.It was back in 1965 when we had in Belgium not only the fantastic organ player LOU BENNET but also the ex drummer of a.o. Lionel Hampton,OLIVER JACKSON.To complete the combo there was the 17-years old guitar player PHILIPPE CATHERINE,today considered as one of the best .

This one and only"recorded for the record"album with Jack Sels cannot be described other than as impressive in the extreme.
