Description

Poetry For The Beat Generation (Hanover LP #5000) is Jack Kerouac's debut album. Kerouac is accompanied by Steve Allen on the piano. Released in 1959. Produced by Bob Thiele

Kerouac's first LP recording - Originally to be released by Dot Records (130 copies of the album leaked out to reviewers and others before the pressing was stopped) - Thankfully, Hanover Records decided to release the session of Kerouac and Steve Allen.

Liner notes by Gilbert Millstein (who reviewed ON THE ROAD for the New York Times in 1957).

This vinyl LP is in very good condition. The record appears to have been played but I do not see any excessive wear or scratches. There is some visible dust in some grooves that I'm sure can be cleaned off.

The album cover has two partially split seams that are held together with some tape. The opening of the album cover has some bends and folds with some paper starting to lift. On the back of the cover there is some staining that does not cover either photos of Kerouac or Steve Allen or the text by Gilbert Millstein. (Please note: The scan is a stock photo)

This is the original 1959 LP release by Hanover Records in "Prismatic Fidelity: A Rainbow of Sound."
