It Still Lives...old time blue ridge mountain music by traditional instrument makers, released by Foxfire Records (FR .001) (38090) in 1980 in Stereo out of Rabun Gap, Georgia. Includes the large, 20-page liner notes booklet of interviews, transcriptions and annotations.
*This has to be the most unique record I have ever come across. This features the old-time music & tales of traditional instrument makers of the Blue Ridge mountains. These men wonderfully perform rare, archaic, very old-time music on their own instruments. This record was surprisingly the culmination of an ambitious high school project! From the notes on the back cover: "This recording features music and oral narratives by four traditional instrument makers from Watauga County, North Carolina. Tedra Harmon, Stanley Hicks, Leonard and Clifford Glenn are all neighbors and friends, they all play music and they all make banjos and dulcimers according to the skills and patterns passed along through the years by relatives and neighbors....This recording is the result of many months of effort by the Foxfire students and Rabun County High School in rural north Georgia. Students first interviewed Stanley, Tedra and Leonard for a special publication on instrument makers in the 1974 issue of Foxfire magazine. The material was later included in Foxfire 3, published by Doubleday / Anchor Press in 1975. The students, curious about the music that came from these homemade instruments, made another visit to the homes of these craftsmen and made the field recordings featured here. The cover, design, layout, editing, mixing, and other production work was all done by high school students in the Foxfire record production class."*
The Vinyl is visually-graded in VG+ condition. When looked at under a bright light, the record shows a very rich luster and a few, very light surface marks.
The Cover is graded in VG+ condition, just showing some very minor edge wear.

For combined shipping, please add $1 for each additional LP you purchase. If you buy many records from me, I can ship them all together in one box, and charge you the actual cost I pay at the post office. International customers, please keep in mind that once you reach 4 pounds (roughly 4 LPs+), 1st Class International is no longer a shipping option, and you must ship Priority or Express.
Insurance is your option as a buyer. International customers, please keep in mind that you can only insure your item if you ship Express, which can be very expensive. Please contact me if you would prefer this option.
