Original 1969 mono pressing of Controversia by Ismael Rivera Y Sus Cachimbos on Tico Records (LP-1196). Produced by Tito Puente and featuring arrangements supported by Charlie Palmieri, this album is a gem of classic salsa infused with guaguancó and bolero rhythms. Recorded at Broadway Recording Studios in NYC, the record showcases Rivera’s iconic vocals on tracks like the fiery title cut “Controversia,” the soulful “La Arañita,” and the danceable “Jala Jala.” Album design by Izzy Sanabria with photography by Bradley Olman.
