Description
This is a rare one; an original pressing of the one-of-a-kind private press Christian teen rock LP "I Like God's Style" by the inimitable Isabel Baker (the teen-aged daughter of an Evangelist minister), released on Romco Records in 1965 and nearly impossible to find now.
This is easily one of the earliest attempts to use "this crazy new rock and roll thing" to bring the word of Jesus to the young people, and Isabel's sincerity and delivery should appeal to fans of The Shaggs or "outsider" music in general. I guess a quote from the liner notes will say it better than I ever could: "Her emphatic delivery, both in ministry and song, is a real challenge to teen-agers as she sings them into the Kingdom on the silver strains of love."
She wrote all the songs herself, presumably with the awesome Fender Jaguar she shows off in the cover photo.
The cover is a rock-solid VG+ with only light surface wear visible; nice corners and no seam splits. Isabel's autograph "In Christ, Isabel Baker" is featured next to her cover shot on the front as well!
I am grading the vinyl separately for each side. Side Two is VG+ with just a couple of light scuffs, and plays very nicely. Only light crackle between songs, very little noise in musical sections (I doubt this was a super hi-fi pressing to begin with). Side One visually grades VG-, with several prominent white marks and some tears on the label (visible in photo). HOWEVER, there are NO SKIPS or jumps, and only a few light clicks and pops during playback. I was pleasantly surprised when I threw this on the turntable, having been prepared for the worst. Plays at a stronger VG to weaker VG+ level, despite its more disturbing cosmetic flaws. In any case, this LP is ridiculously rare in any condition, and a must for collectors of the strange or outsider aesthetic. Definitely a "classic" in its way!

These LPs are all from my personal collection. I am just an avid fan and collector, doing a periodic pruning of my record collection to save space and pay off some bills. I have been selling LPs on a semi-professional basis for many years and my grading has been praised by buyers worldwide as accurate and conservative. I will ship worldwide; all LPs will be removed from the jacket to avoid seam splits during shipping, packed in a strong LP mailer with a flattener inside.
