Description
"Introducing The Beatles / England's No. 1 Vocal Group" LP
Original "Version 2" pressing on the Vee Jay label (VJLP 1062).
A RARE Beatles collectible indeed !!!
The glorious MONO pressing, not the dreadful sounding "rechanneled stereo" version.
To verify this as the ORIGINAL VERSION 2 pressing, note these characteristic identifiers:
* "pasted over" rear jacket cover
* shadow to side of George clearly visible on right side of front cover
* no ink missing from "HONEY" on rear jacket (the "honey test")
* no comma in "PLEASE PLEASE ME" track listing on rear jacket
* colorband labels, with green color clearly present
* VJ logo appears in brackets above spindle on labels
* "THE BEATLES" centered on label just above spindle
* Side 1 matrix # reads: 63-3402-1 (hand etched in dead wax area)
* Side 2 matrix # reads: 63-3403 (hand etched in dead wax area)
This RARE pressing of the classic "Introducing The Beatles" LP was issued before The Beatles signed with Capitol. The far more common Version 1 of this release included "Love Me Do" and "P.S. I Love You". Due to a legal challenge, Version 2 was issued, replacing "Love Me Do" and "P.S. I Love You" with "Please Please Me" and "Ask Me Why". Still another more common version followed which corrected the title of track 1 on side 2, adding a comma to "PLEASE, PLEASE ME".
Vinyl: VG+ based on sound quality; VG based on cosmetics
The sound quality here is wonderful. These are the original MONO recordings of these early iconic Beatles' studio performances and they provide a joyous listen on this LP, which features thick wax and deep grooves. Spins true, with no warpage. Numerous surface marks are present but do not significantly detract from the listening experience. Modest surface noise ("crackle") is audible between tracks and during a few quiet passages. High gloss still present on this LP, now more than 50 years old !!!
Labels are bright and clean, with crystal clear print.

Jacket: VG+
The jacket is very clean, with no ring wear on the front and only the slightest trace of ring wear on the rear.
Front jacket color photo is rich and bright.
Rear jacket is super clean, with crystal clear text. A name ("PERRY") is printed neatly in ink at the top left corner. (This LP was one in a collection of about 500 albums that I bought from my friend Bob Perry several decades ago.)
Spine is in near mint condition, with highly legible print.
Top seam is nearly perfect.
Bottom seam shows modest rub wear and approx. 2 1/2 inches of seam split on the far right side, at the jacket opening.

As I take great care to accurately describe my items, I do not accept returns unless my item description is incorrect.
