Description

Very rare!  Being offered up is an acetate of a recording made by Chicago's own Ides Of March. The track is "A Man Is A Man" The track was recorded through the famed Chess Recording Studio's of Chicago. I cannot find any listing for the Ides Of March being on Chess/Cadet Records. I am not sure if the track appeared on any future Ides LP's. I cannot find where this was ever released as a single. What I also have and will accompany the record to the winning bidder, is a letter written by a promotions man to a California agent talking about the new demo "A Man Is A Man" cut by The Ides Of March at the brand new Chess Studio in Chicago. In the letter he goes on to explain that The Ides Of March were with Parrot Records for a year and a half and "They are now completely free of that contract and you will have an exclusive on them" Many more cool facts in the letter which is dated November 21, 1967. This period would put the band at a post Parrot, but pre-Warner Brothers era as best I can research. The letter and the record were found together. If you are a fan of The Ides Of March, the Midwest/Chicago Rock scene or just want a cool piece of insider memorabila this is for you. The condition of the playing surface of the vinyl is VG. It played wonderfully with just a slight sizzle in the beginning which faded as the record progressed. The record does have a slight warp that did not effect the play through in any way.
