Description
I have been an obsessive collector of vinyl LP's and singles for many years, and from the very first I have always been very careful about the condition of the records I have bought. Once in my posession the records have been well stored and always very carefully handled. If the records have been played at all, it has always been on a good quality hi - fi system, the deck being a Linn LP12 deck with a top of the range arm and cartridge.
As a result, most of the many thousands of items in my collection are in excellent condition or better.
Now, in order to create more space at home, I have decided to cut the collection back to a core of my personal favourite artistes, and to dispose of the remainder. These I intend to list for auction over the coming months.
For auction here is a copy of the very rare Iron Maiden boxed set of 20, 12-inch singles called 'The First Ten Years'. Each of the 10, double 12 inch singles contained in the box (see my photos) has an Iron Maiden single plus its 'b' side and a bonus track telling about the release. These unique items were released between February and the end of April 1990 to mark the ten year anniversary of Iron Maiden's singles releases.
Originally available by mail order each double gatefold single was ordered with a voucher. Although the individual releases come up every now and then, the whole set, complete with its box, is something of a rarity.
The box top has some edge and side wear as is usual, but is overall in very nice condition indeed. The bottom of the box, which has one drop side to allow access to the records within is just lovely, with only some odd signs of wear and scuffing underneath. Each double 12-inch has its original picture sleeve and inner, and each still carries its original, unique 'Limited Edition' sticker giving its' title and the track listing, these are all perfect. The picture sleeve of one has a 1-inch tear half way down, and perpendicular to, the front opening side, but there is no material loss, and on a couple more the glue on the internal flip back is releasing but these could be easily reglued to be as good as new leaving the single tear as the only fault on the set. The inner white liners are crisp and bright; one or two have some vinyl break-out at the middle edges where the sharp edge of the record has cut its way through the bag, but are otherwise perfect. The records themselves are superlative, with clean and bright vinyl, and perfect labels; these look as new and I would doubt that they have ever been played.
In summary a rare set in extremely collectable condition and sure to please the most picky of Iron Maiden collectors.
