Description

This hard to find and highly sort after album is rarely seen, let alone in this condition. The vinyl is excellent, but looks although it has never been played, the label is pristine with no markings or writing and is therefore and could easily be graded as mint. The sleeve is excellent and only has a few minor blemishes and slight colour deterioration, but only along the thin spine. The matrix no's are Side 1 - 2465015 A//2 1 1 & Side 2 - 2465015 B//2 1 1

Heavy is the debut studio album by the rock band Iron Butterfly, released in early 1968. Most of the songs are fairly simple and based largely on the opening riffs, interspersed with some pop songs and blues covers. The first two tracks, "Possession" and "Unconscious Power", were both written by keyboardist Doug Ingle and released as the respective sides of a single. "Iron Butterfly Theme" is a riff-driven instrumental, and the longest track on the album (it is over four and-a-half minutes long). It contains some musical themes also present in the band's song "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida". The album's artwork depicts the band members playing their respective instruments beside a large monument of a human ear, with then-singer Darryl DeLoach sitting atop the monument playing a tambourine. Three of the group's members (Jerry Penrod, Darryl DeLoach and Danny Weis) left the band shortly after the album was recorded, leaving Ingle and drummer Ron Bushy to find replacements. Heavy eventually went Gold in the US.

VINYL EXCELLENT : The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality.

SLEEVE EXCELLENT : The cover and packaging might have slight wear and / or creasing.

VINYL VERY GOOD : The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch.

SLEEVE VERY GOOD : Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, some laminate veining or minor discolouration without any major defects, is acceptable.

VINYL GOOD : The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches.

SLEEVE GOOD : The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine or edge splits, discolouration, laminate veining etc.
