Condition of LP: EXCELLENT - UNDER A STRONG LIGHT THERE ARE A FEW VERY VERY LIGHT SURFACE SCRATCHES THAT HAVE NO EFFECT ON THE SOUND WHATSOEVER
Condition of Sleeve: VERY GOOD PLUS - SLEEVE HAS SOME STORAGE DAMAGE BUT STILL RETAINS A NICE LAMINATE SHEEN AND STRONG UNDAMAGED SPINE
Comments/Reviews: A great 70’s UK rock collectable. As with many early 70s bands this three-piece London based group were a by-product of the late 60s British Blues Boom who would progress beyond that label by mixing melodic pop with heavy rock and intelligent and meaningful lyrics, an album of it’s time that justifies its collectable value
When it was released in mid-73, it received a lot of critical acclaim, but may have been considered too ahead of its time to generate acceptance from the buying public. Nonetheless, the band toured the UK to promote the album and even started recording a follow-up, before a mixture of record company apathy and lack of commercial success led to the band folding late in 1973. For reasons I can’t explain this Spanish version was released in 1976 and was issued in a completely different cover (far superior in my opinion)
This may appeal to fans of Fuzzy Duck, Toad, Leaf Hound and quite possibly Grand Funk Railroad.
TECHNICAL & VALUE NOTES:
There are a number of mentions on the web regarding the sound quality of different pressings, apparently the UK pressings were rather muffled as were CD reissues proving not much better. The general consensus is that the Spanish pressing of this record is the one that plays best. As I’ve only ever heard this Spanish pressing, I can’t comment other than to say it sounds pretty lively to my ears.
This is an incredibly rare Spanish white label promo on the Carnaby Label that comes in a unique Spanish only sleeve which is far superior to the awful cartoon UK version.
At the time of writing I can only find two copies for sale on line of this far rarer Spanish version moreso a promo copy, Discogs has one copy for 300 Euros and eBay UK has one at £270 so I can only suggest this is the bargain of this current listing, you won’t find a cheaper version.
LP is in excellent condition.
